Sochi hosts its first direct flight from Berlin
On 5 February 2017, at 13:05 local time, the first direct flight from Berlin to Sochi landed at Sochi International Airport.
The Berlin-Sochi-Berlin flight was organised by the Roza Khutor Ski Resort. The schedule has just 3 flights per week, and will cease operations on 19 February with its final “outbound” Sochi-Berlin flight.
The Roza Khutor Ski Resort has already opened its seasonal sales of package tours for tourists from Germany, including the direct Berlin-Sochi-Berlin flight, transfers, accommodation and ski passes provided by the resort. In so doing, Roza Khutor has become the first Russian resort to offer a full package to its foreign clients. The flight partner for the current programme is the German carrier “Condor Airlines”.
“The load factor of the first Berlin-Sochi flight was more than 45%”, explains Olga Filipenkova, Marketing Director for Roza Khutor. “This is a very good indicator, taking into account the fact that German tourists usually plan their trips in advance, usually one year ahead. We are seeing increased interest in Sochi’s ski resort on foreign markets, and based on these ‘pilot’ flights, we will determine the parameters for further extending the flight programme.”
As well as tourists, there were representatives of tour operators and travel agencies on the flight. Their aim – to familiarise themselves with the infrastructure and future possibilities offered by the Roza Khutor Ski Resort.
