The Ural

The Ural

Ural is a huge territory that includes the Republics of Bashkortostan and Udmurtia, the Sverdlovskaya, Chelyabinskaya, Kurgan and Orenburgskaya regions, the Perm Territory, the eastern parts of the Komi Republic, Arkhangelsk region and the western part of the Tyumen region. Its major cities are Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk and Ufa. The sights of the Ural, scattered throughout the region, are very diverse and can be split into two main types: natural and historical.

The Ural is characterised by a wide variety of natural landscapes. Natural monuments include the Ural Range – a very special place, as these are the oldest mountains that divide Europe and Asia, Central Russia and Siberia. The historical monuments of the Ural are associated with the history of the Stone Age, with the development of the region in the 17-18th centuries, as well as with the history of the assassination of the Royal family. The rich multinational culture of the Ural, the beauty of its natural landscapes and wide range of holiday options have turned this region into one of the most popular tourist destinations in Russia.
